Week 27

Hello everyone!

Your home boy Elder McKeon here! Crazy week here in Texas! 6 months out tomorrow!!!! Time flies when serving the Lord!

It was long  week, thats for sure! Spanish was better but we had a lot of meetings!

Pray for my Spanish! haha! I've been working really hard, just keep getting frustrated with myself because I know the basics of what i need to say, but I want to increase my knowledge and really use it well!  I keep getting frustrated when I do not use the right conjugation. I just need to slow down and really think what I am gonna say!

We actually didn't move this week like planned. We are moving on Thursday to a new apartment complex across the street. It's way better!

 Monday night we were in a complex and we hear someone calling "Missionaries!" We look over and we see this older British lady running towards us. She is a member from England and is visiting here with her husband. They ask us if we could come help them get their things to the apartment. We start talking to them and the man pulls out some British chocolate and gives it to us. Then he takes out these homemade leather wallets, cartera is wallet in Spanish. haha! These are made of leather that is put in yachts and Aston  Martins. He buys the scrap leather from them to make the wallets. Then he hands us 2 English flags. It was so sweet! 

Tuesday, we had Zone conference and that was amazing! We talked about Enduring to the End and the Church's new Easter campaign, #PrinceofPeace, which is going to be awesome! I can't wait for you all to see it!

 Friday, we had interviews with President, and as always, those were amazing! 

We talked about the work. It was super simple but we talked about how I am doing on the mission and how I am liking it. I said that I am enjoying the mission. He asked if I am happy. We talked about my mom's "be happy" phrase. She ends every letter with Be Happy! and always says Happiness is a choice! I am choosing to be happy! President is the bomb!

 On Sunday, we had Rodrigo and Yenifer and Raul and his wife all come to church! 

Rodrigo and Yenifer are on date for baptism for the 8th of abril. Elder Thompson got to give a talk that was really good and then we got to teach the Young Women for third hour! We got to teach about the Atonement and it was so much fun! We showed the "Because of Him" Video and in Spanish it is "Gracia A El" Personally I like it better in Spanish.

President is doing a video for the Easter campaign so we all made a sign, in our assigned language, on how the Savior brings us peace. Mine says "He answers me" and Elder Thompson's says "He guides me". 

Week 26

Hi everyone!

We have been cleaning all morning cuz we are moving this week. It's the same complex just a smaller apartment, better than some worst than others. It's a different address but it is apartment number 45. I'll send my new address when I get it. We are moving Wed. or Thursday.

This week has been super good! We just have been teaching so much! Rodrigo and Yenifer and Raul are progressing Sooo well! I am so excited for them! We had an investigator named Carlos who is super awesome! He was nervous about church but he prayed about it.  He said he felt so good during his prayer. He said on the radio he heard that he needed to go and try churches and so next week he is gonna come to church with us! 

This week was a little rough with Spanish. Just the Lord humbling me cuz I thought it was getting way better! haha!

It's getting hot in Houston and I am Not excited!!! 

We have lost track of our Security guard investigator. We think he might have been fired.  We have a number for him but he doesn't answer and we talked to the other security guard and he said that he works at some casino now! Maybe we planted a seed for other missionaries!

Nothing too exciting this last week but super excited for this week because we have Zone conference and interviews with President. President wants to talk about the importance of church for our investigators. I love Zone Conferences. Should be very fun! 

The zone is all here today. We're going to play bball! Pumped about that!

Week 25

Hi Everyone!

So this week was super good! Well to start off I will be staying in the Houston 2nd ward! Even better, Elder Thompson and I will be staying together for another transfer. My first 7 months in the mission will be spent in the same area with the same comp! 

Sadly our district is being switched up. Elder Thompson and I are the only ones not getting affected by transfers in our district.

This week was super cool. Our investigators Rodrigo and his girlfriend Yenifer came to church and they loved it! They were only going stay for the first hour but after that, they just both couldn't pull themselves away to leave. They stayed all 3 hours! It was the best thing ever! They are progressing so well. 

Saul and Yolanda are great! We're actually going to start teaching Saul's cousin this week too. Oh and we may be starting to teach this family who son is on a mission. The family isn't members. We have a lesson set up with them this week. The mom started crying when we knocked on the door and she opened it. Her son comes home in 5 months from his mission. 

I am trying my best with Spanish - still got a lot to learn but it is coming along. I'm getting really good at praying. But some days the spanish is there and other days, it's like Duh, what am I saying. A sister in our district that is a native speaker said I am super el Salvadorian in the way I speak! hahahaa

It rained a lot this week so we were just always soaked! We would try to give people a card with our number and they would be just be drenched. It made the people we were talking to laugh. 

Thanks for all the pictures. I miss my dog! He is to fat, somebody take him on some walks. I miss my beard!!! That has been the biggest sacrifice of the mission!! haha!

Week 24

Hi everyone - short email this week I apologize!

This week was so much fun! We are teaching a lot! We are now teaching Rodrigo's girlfriend and he has a baptismal date for March 31! His girlfriend and brother have a date for the 8th of April! This week was way fun! We had a lot of service, helping people move and just running around! I was able to go on an exchange with Elder Cooper from our district and that was a lot of fun. We got two of his investigators on date for baptism! 

Transfers this week might bring a change! We'll see!
