Week 52! ONE YEAR!!

Hi everyone!
Great week this week of missionary work!

This week we did a lot of  "doing everything the Spirit prompted us to do" and was that awesome! We went and saw a lot of less actives that we had not seen in a long time. We were taken there at the right time and they were home and let us come share a message with them! All I could say this week was "Man I freaking love the Spirit!"

Yup, it kind of just hit me that I have been out on the mission for a whole year! Man how time flies! I have loved serving! I have loved being out here through the hard and easy times. It has been one of the biggest blessings I have had.

Great story from the week was Elder Cass and I were out giving flyers to a neighborhood that got hit by flooding and this lady, not very nicely, goes can I help you? And I say, Yes actually were the local missionaries and we are going around offering help to those whose houses were damaged during the flood. In just those simple words her attitude towards us changed. She then said oh my goodness I need help my house, it got flooded. She took us to her house and explained how she needs help and the areas in her house that were damaged. After that she was just so nice to us. It made me chuckle how someone who has a hardened heart can have it softened by a simple offer of help! I love it!
I love you all!

From President Hall: We felt like it would only be appropriate to remember the Mormon Helping Hands efforts post Hurricane Harvey. We even had one of the office staff sister missionaries make matching headbands to keep the sweat out of our eyes. The missionaries have put in a lot of physical work and we are grateful to balance it with our spiritual efforts as well. We are blessed to be in the Great THSM!

Week 51

Hi everyone!

Another great week here in Houston, Texas!

This week was a very different week. We started a new service schedule where we did service on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and then the other days were proselyting. The schedule was cool but it made me feel 18 x more tired during the week. No idea why, but man, was I tired during the week. A lot of the mucking is finished so now service is kind of dying down. We will be back to just normal proselyting days and then doing service where needed.
So we had a really cool experience this week. Elder Rasband of the Quorum of the 12 came to our Stake and we had a special Sacrament meeting with him there! I got the opportunity to shake his hand which was super awesome!
Another cool experience was one house we went to help on Sunday. The lady who lived there was just like I am so overwhelmed by the amount of people here to help me. She told us that she was told they would have like 4 people come to help them and then our ward showed up with like a good 40 people. She was so grateful. Her husband is disabled. He broke his back 18 years ago so he could not do much. Us showing up to help them just move things around was a huge answer to prayer for them! I love being able to be that answer to prayer for people in need!
Other than that nothing to crazy going on here in the Great Mission field!
Love you all!

Week 50

Hey everyone!

Another week, another group of houses taken apart! This week was very similar to last week: up at sun rise, serving, taking apart houses, then done at sun down and slamming into bed at the end of the night, falling asleep in seconds! hahaha.
I didn't get transferred. Still in Sunny side. Sunny side didn't get a scratch so we are working around Pearland and Friendswood.

This week we helped a family named the Jones family and they were so fun to help! The guy looked at us at the end of the day and said "the way I will pay you for your service is by going to your church. I am a die hard baptist"  he said "but i will go one time." I jokingly said to him "it only takes one time to get hooked." That made him laugh pretty good!

Other than that we have just been working our butts off helping people! I love it so much! I'm addicted to helping people. I get up every morning tired, but can't wait to get out and help people! I have grown to understand why the Lord went out and served everyone! It's the most rewarding thing a person can do! Everyone should serve someone every day. Even if it is just as simple as opening the door for someone!

I love you all!

Week 49 - Hurricane Surviver

Hurricane Harvey Survivor!!

Hey party people,

It's Wreck It Ralph!!! Oh wait sorry... It's Elder McKeon. I confuse myself and him sometimes because of what I have been doing for the last week!

I have just been destroying houses since Wednesday and Oh man, I love it! I don't love wrecking peoples homes because it is really sad, but man do I love wrecking their homes, getting rid of the water damage. hahaha! This last week we have been going out all day, helping people with their homes. We have been tearing down dry wall, ripping up floors, kicking out doors...You name it and I have done it! I love to work and sweat! Oh baby, no AC in the houses and rotting mold everywhere! Dirty work! Nothing is more rewarding right now! The people are in need of help. It is mass destruction. Where we are is bad, but it is bad everywhere. Houston is still under water in a lot of places.

Our schedule has changed a bit. We just wake up and go out. We don't exercise during this time, got plenty of exercise doing what we are doing. We still read the scriptures and study. Ya it's awesome. I finished the New Testament last night and started Doctrine and Covenants today.

On Sunday, we had church at 8 am and it was only sacrament meeting. We all showed up in service clothes cuz right after the meeting, we went out and helped the people! Our district right now looks like a straight construction crew! It is so awesome!
I think we have helped take apart like 7 houses at this point. hahaha All we do is go to one house, help them, finish there, then we just walk the streets seeing who needs our help! Trust me when I say this, everyone needs our help! It is not hard to find someone. It's so funny cuz the members are always like Holy Cow, these white boys know how to work.

My most exciting moment was we were waiting on an insurance guy to come look at the house before we started wrecking it. The insurance guy walked in and looked at me and said to me "Do you live in this house?" I said no and he looks around the house again, looks at me and goes "Gut it to the ceiling" I cant even explain how giddy I got. I was like a  little school girl! haha! I have loved it, never been so sore in my life, but it is so worth it! I am so happy to see that we are making a difference. Service is definitely God's work!
I love ya'll!
Thank you for all of your prayers!
