Week 30

Hi Everyone!!!!

Another email from your favorite missionary! :)
BISHOP Oborn! That is awesome. Happy for him to be Bishop!! So cool!

I didn't know Bishop Johnson was moving. I wish him well. I thank him for being my Bishop getting me out here to serve.

This week has been super good. Last week of the transfer and my companion is being transferred. Elder Thompson is being sent off and I am staying in the area. I'm super excited about staying in the area but will miss Elder Thompson! He was a great trainer!

My new companion is Elder Hall and I am super excited to be working with him!

A crazy miracle we had this week, one of our investigators named Carlos quit his job because he could not get a Sunday off to go to church. So he quit and went and got a new job where he does not have to work at all on Sundays. Plus he is making more money. So that is so awesome! Crazy how the Lord will bless us as we do the things to come closer to him!

We also got in contact with Miguel and Alejandra this week so that was a blessing. Rodrigo is doing good. His sister got married on Saturday so he was super busy this week. Working on a baptism date for him.

Also, other cool news is we will be getting a car in this area! You best believe I am still gonna be killing it on the bike everyday. We are getting a 2016 White Sienna mini van. I am about to be the Hottest soccer mom this part of Houston has ever seen! Gonna bump some Mo Tab in the mini van!

I hit 7 months this week! It's so crazy how fast time is going by here in the mission!
Love being a missionary!
I love you all

Week 29

Hi everybody
Your favorite Elder here!

This week was a good week. We had a lot of amazing experiences this week! Wednesday we got to go to the temple as a zone and that is always a great time! I love the Temple!
Then that night we had a lesson with our investigator Rodrigo. He was telling us about his uncle that is deaf and lives in Mexico. He randomly, out of nowhere, got a Facetime call from that Uncle. He answered it and was telling him about us and I started signing with him. It was the coolest experience ever!  All of the stuff I learned in ASL just started flying back to me. His uncle and I had a good 15 minute conversation. I had never seen Rodrigo so happy!! He told us that it just made his night to see someone be able to talk to his Uncle because nobody knows sign. He said his Uncle gets sad sometimes because he doesn't have many people to talk too. Rodrigo was super happy about that and
I was super grateful for that experience.
The Lord puts us in places we need to be. I had my first really awesome gift of tongues moment and it wasn't even in the languages I am speaking! hahahaha! Who would've guessed that would happen!

Got a big package in the mail from my mama! Love the Easter treats and the cream horns from my Grandma! Thank you Newhall Beehives for the Easter box! The Newhall YW rock!! Treats in the mail are always welcome!

Saturday we had exchanges with the other Elders and our district and, Man was that a fun time!!

Our ward got moved due to boundary changes so we spent all Saturday morning helping move buildings and that was way way fun! I love the members in the ward!! They are so much fun and they love the missionaries. It is always an amazing time to be with them.
The boundaries tripled in size so they were giving Elder Thompson and I a car so we could go work out in those new areas.
We had a sister in our district get hit by a car this week, clipped her back tire. She is okay, just some bruises on her knee. We had the car for half a day and President gave to the Sisters.  So now we don't have a car but we still have the new areas and its about a 10 mile bike ride to the new area so we cant get out there. Maybe we'll find a member to take us once or twice! We'll see!

Also another miracle! When I first got here in this area, we had a less active named Alvaro that hadn't gone to church in a long while. We got him to start coming back to church and now this Sunday, he was called as the first counselor in the Young Men Presidency! Literally the coolest thing to see his transformation! He went from going to church in a Polo and jeans and only staying for one hour, to staying all three hours and wearing a suit and tie! He shaved his beard for his calling (I was not to happy about him shaving, but its okay). I love seeing the blessings of the gospel in peoples lives.

Transfers are this week!

Also was extremely happy to celebrate the Resurrection of our Savior Jesus Christ this weekend!
I love you all

Week 28

Hello everybody!

Good week here in Texas! Some good fun times going on this week!

So our very pregnant investigator, well, she gave birth on Wednesday! It was super funny because we called her husband and he didn't answer. He then sent us a text saying, sorry Elders I wasn't able to answer the phone because we are in the hospital right now for the birth of my baby! So I mean that is a pretty good reason to have to cancel our appt. :)
But the best part of it all is, we got a text Friday night that said, Hi Elders we are back at home so you guys can come and visit us whenever you would like! YES! We set up an appointment and saw them Sunday night. That was awesome!

Helaman 3:35 is my mission plaque scripture. It is a good scripture. I read it this morning during personal study. Read it!

Well our ward is getting 40 new memebers and we are moving buildings. We are also getting 2 new sisters in our district. A branch is getting dissolved so they are taking half of the ward and bringing them to our ward. That is good.

On Friday we went on an Exchange with the Zone leaders and that was way to much fun. hahaha! Their ward every Friday night has a huge soccer game where they invite all the investigators and it is a great activity. They had more investigators at the game than members. It was so much fun so I am trying to set up that activity in our ward.

So as the goofball missionaries that we are, we all got crazy Hawaiian shirts from the resale shop! We did service at that shop that morning.  We looked like a bunch of goofballs and it was so awesome. haha!

I am working hard. The zone leaders taught me a new better way to oym (open your mouth) with people and it has been really working.

We get to go to the temple on Wednesday so I am super excited about that! Other than that pretty normal week here in the mission.

I love you all!
Elder McKeon

Happy Easter to you!

Week 27

Hey Everyone!!!!

Well Houston is crazy! Wednesday we had a crazy storm for about an hour and then it stopped and was a million degrees. So all of you that know me, know I hated the heat and humidity.

But this week was super crazy! We found 2 new investigators, moved and spent all weekend watching General conference!

One of our new investigators we found is the wife of a less active member. We found him through his mom who is from California. She is her in Texas for a month and called us asking where the church building is. We told her and set up an appointment with her to visit. We get to the apartment and find out it is her son's apartment. He is less active and his EXTREMELY pregnant wife is not a member. We were able to teach them twice this week and she is super awesome! Like a very near and dear movie close to my heart once said "Mother knows best" And that mother knew that it was best for her son to have the missionaries over to teach her son and Daughter in law.

Then on Friday we moved and man was that crazy!!!! I hope to never have to do that again! Our new apartment is very nice and we are still trying to put it all together! The only bad thing is that the microwave does not match the decor of the kitchen, but I will try my best to not let that bother me to much! haha! My new address is 5515 Dashwood Dr. Houston TX

General Conference weekend was super fun! One of my favorite things from conference was how in the Saturday session the Prophet and Elder Nelson were wearing grey suits, not the same boring black ones! I loved it!! Also, my favorite quote was from President Uchtdorf from priesthood session, He said " You can not power launch into eternal glory" Conference as a missionary is wayyyy different than being a normal member. Everything seems to ring more true with me and so that is super awesome!  A scripture I read this morning in personal study that if i could go back in time and put this scripture on my plaque I would! It is in the book of Alma Chapter 56: 47-48,
It says "47 Now they never had fought, yet they did not fear death; and they did think more upon the liberty of their fathers than they did upon their lives; yea, they had been taught by their mothers, that if they did not doubt, God would deliver them.
48 And they rehearsed unto me the words of their mothers, saying: We do not doubt our mothers knew it.
For everyone reading those versus really read them and dissect them. These 2000 stripling warriors are the perfect example to all missionaries! We may not be going to an actual war, but we are going on a spiritual one; sharing the gospel.  For me personally, I know I was taught by my mother to put all my trust in the Lord and he will deliver me.
Some days are a lot harder than others but you gotta not doubt the Lord and keep pushing forward. I know he will deliver me in my work! This is also just a shout out to how awesome my mother is! She is definitely a stripling soldier mom!  *

I love you all
